AppleInsider

Do you love taking photos but prefer only to use your phone? Apple doesn’t disappoint when it comes to high-quality photos. In fact, you can take professional-quality photos using only your iPhone.

Meanwhile, there are many photographers worldwide who have made a name for themselves using only their iPhone. Some of the most notable are Brendan O Se, who was named iPhone Photographer in 2017. There’s also Zarni Myo Win, who was a finalist in the iPhone Photography Awards in 2018.

So why  do we choose the new iPhone 12? Aside from being the latest model, iPhone 12 is equipped with a 47% larger camera than the previous iPhone 11. That means it has larger pixel size, better color quality, reduced noise, and enhanced low light performance.

But that’s only the tip of the iceberg. We all know Apple. They have a lot under their sleeves. So, for the iPhone 12 we know why it’s a great phone for would-be iPhone-only photographers. Let’s cut the story, and let’s see which iPhone 12 is the best for photographers.

iPhone 12

The new iPhone 12 is about to be released on October 23, but the pre-order has already started on October 16. Apple’s flagship iPhone 12 offers powerful features but in an affordable price range. However, since it’s significantly cheaper than the higher-end models, it’s still a great option for those who don’t need the features of a professional-level camera.

The new iPhone 12 has flat sides and a matte finish. It comes with a ceramic shield, which is more durable than most smartphone glass. In fact, it’s about four times tougher based on drop performance tests. Moreover, it’s enclosed in an Aerospace-grade aluminum edges. Even better, it’s designed with a spill and splash resistance.

With performance, the iPhone 12 comes with an A14 Bionic chipset, edge-to-edge OLED display, night mode camera feature and to sizes depending on your preference. Moreover, this iPhone model uses the same chipset with its more high-end counterpart, the iPhone 12 Pro.

iPhone 12 Mini

The smallest member in the iPhone 12 family

The iPhone 12 Mini is the smallest and the cheapest compared to its other siblings. It has a screen size of 5.4 inches. This iPhone model is Apple’s newest variant in the expanding iPhone line of products along with the Pro and Max label for better differentiation. The company has been steadily growing its core products for its wide variety of customer base.

The iPhone 12 Mini is becoming a popular option during the COVID-19 pandemic. The current crisis affected millions of Americans and the global economy. For this reason, Apple hopes that their cheapest smartphone will alleviate the economy since most people are not willing to spend more than $1,000 on a new phone.

The biggest advantage of this particular iPhone model is its compact size. While it’s not as small as the 2020 iPhone SE, it still functions relatively close with its more expensive siblings. Also, the iPhone 12 Mini comes with a 5G, Super Retina XDR OLED display, Rated IP68, splash, water, and dust resistance, dual 12 MP camera and the powerful A14 Bionic Chip.

iPhone 12 Pro

Apple’s nice middle ground phone

The new iPhone 12 Pro measures 5.8 x 2.8 x 0.3 inches (HWD) and weighs approximately 6.7 ounces. This new smartphone from Apple is the fascinating middle ground phone thanks to its powerful design next to the top of the line iPhone 12 Pro Max.

It comes with a 6.1-inch display, 800 nits of brightness, triple 12MP camera, LiDAR scanner, and a wide f/1.6 aperture for better low-light performance. On the other hand, the selfie cam offers the same 12MP. It also features night mode shooting and Deep Fusion on all of its cameras.

The night mode feature has an improved focus in dark environments thanks to the new LiDAR sensor. You should also watch out for the new feature update, the ProRAW. It’s able to take full imaging in real time, raw images. That also includes every metadata from the same format. Likewise, RAW image gives you more control when editing still photos.

The new iPhone 12 Pro is equipped with the IP68 water-resistant. That means it’s able to handle up to 6 meters deep in water for about 30 minutes. It’s a huge leap compared to the 4 meter capacity of the iPhone 11 Pro.

Moreover, it has a 128GB of storage and supports 5G networks. All iPhone 12 models use the A14 chipset. The company is restoring the MagSafe specifically for its new wireless charging. MagSafe power adapters can charge your phone with 15 watts of power instead of the 7.5 watts on older Qi chargers.

iPhone 12 Pro Max

The largest display ever on an iPhone with the highest resolution

Although the iPhone 12 Pro Max might appear to be almost the same as the iPhone 12 Pro in terms of three lenses and the LiDAR scanner, the biggest difference is the telephoto sensor. The next noticeable thing with the camera is that the Pro Max has a narrower f/2.4 aperture than the 12 Pro. However, it supports up to 5X and 12X optical zoom.

It also has a notable software difference with the 12 Pro. With that being said, the Pro Max is ideal for serious hard-core gamers and streamers. Apple’s software makes efficient operation with the new A14 Bionic processor and a Super Retina XDR OLED touchscreen with 1242 x 2688 pixel resolution.

It’s protected by a scratch-resistant glass with an oleophobic coating, 800 nits maximum brightness, Dolby Vision, Wide color gamut, HDR10+, True-tone, and 120Hz refresh rate. The front camera is 12MP wide, SL 3D depth/biometrics camera sensor. The sensor incorporates a Face ID, gyro, proximity, compass, accelerometer, among others.

Additionally, the iPhone 12 Pro and the iPhone 12 Pro Max are the two best iPhone models for photographers. However, the 12 Pro Max is the best among the iPhone 12 siblings. But of course, you need to pay a lot more. It’s expensive but you get all the benefits of a premium smartphone with the capabilities of a professional-quality camera.
