Apple AirPods Pro, 9 Things You Need To Do With This Wireless Earbuds

Apple AirPods Pro is small but dynamic wireless earbuds. But with its high price tag, you must get the most of your money’s worth. So, here are 9 tricks you need to do to master this powerful bluetooth earbuds.

OneZero-Medium

Apple is always making sure they’re at the top of the ladder. It’s pretty obvious with their continued improvement with the software updates of their popular wireless earbuds, the AirPods Pro. The best example comes when they released iOS 14. This included the Spatial Audio feature that gives the AirPods Pro a surround-like sound.

Moreover, the AirPods Pro is different from the standard AirPods. While they have some similarities like checking battery levels and active noise cancellations to quick pairing and spatial audio, the big difference is there’s much to learn with the true wireless earbuds.

With that said, these are the 11 tricks you need to do to get the most from these high-cost wireless earbuds.

Pair it with your Apple device

Pairing only takes a few seconds. After you unbox the AirPods Pro, you need to unlock your Apple communication device like iPad, iPhone, or Mac. Next, open the charging case of the earbuds. After a second or two, a prompt will notify you if you want to pair the two devices.

Then, tap Connect. You’re done with pairing. Likewise, the AirPods Pro works well with your iPhone along with every Apple device that’s signed in on your iCloud account.

Press the stem of your AirPods Pro

The AirPods Pro requires pressing on the stem instead of tapping on the button. The AirPods Pro doesn’t have buttons. In fact, it uses a pressure-sensitive section that works like a button. While this might feel weird, however, it’s what you’d expect from Apple’s unconventional company mindset.

Here’s how to do this. With your two fingers, gently squeeze the flat section of each of your AirPods. Do this until you hear a click in your ear. Also, pay attention to the number of presses you make and what it results to:

  • Pause/Play: Single press
  • Skip forward: Double-press
  • Skip backward: Triple-press
  • If you want to switch between noise cancellation and transparency: Long press

Using active noise cancellation

This is probably the AirPods’ Pro headline feature. The active noise cancellation blocks all ambient noises that you would normally hear when using regular earbuds. This feature is relatively essential if you want to work with fewer distractions.

For example, if you’re working in a noisy office space or sharing with another individual. If you want more privacy without really leaving the area like in your home. The active noise cancellation will block every chatter and other audio distractions.

With that said, you can turn off noise cancellation using a long press on one of the stems on either AirPods Pro. Likewise, you can switch the settings using the control center on your iPhone or iPad.

You can do this by swiping down from the top right corner of your screen and long press on the volume slider at the control center. A prompt will show three options: Noise cancellation, Off, and Transparency. Next, tap which setting works for you.

Using transparency mode

With transparency mode, you’ll hear the ambient noises in your environment. With that said, transparency mode is beneficial when walking in busy streets or at the airport. This feature lets you listen to your favorite audio content and outside sounds at the same time.

Say you’re waiting for the gate to change in the airport or walking on the busy street. Transparency mode will let you hear outside traffic thereby preventing unwanted accidents. As mentioned before, you can switch to Transparency mode with a long press of the AirPods button or with the Control Center.

Spatial Audio

It’s an impressive listening experience. To make use of this new feature, you need to make sure your iPhone is running on iOS 14. You can turn on this feature by navigating Settings > Bluetooth > tap the “i” next to your AirPods Pro and then switch On the Spatial Audio. You can then listen to a demo to see if the feature works.

On the other hand, your AirPods’ Pro firmware update can be managed by your iPhone so there’s no need to worry about this. However, if you want to make sure you can use this feature, do these simple steps.

Place the earbuds back to the charging case but leave them open. Place it next to your iPhone. This might take an hour to update the AirPods Pro firmware.

Using Apple Watch

You can control the AirPods Pro with your Apple Watch. Just tap on the AirPlay icon on the Now Playing app. This will switch between noise cancellation and transparency mode.

Using your Mac computer

When you’re using your Mac computer, you can switch between modes without touching the button on your AirPods Pro. However, your Mac should run on macOS Big Sur to do this. If so, you’ll see the AirPods icon when you’re connected to the Mac. Click the icon to switch mode.

On the other hand, if you’re not familiar with Big Sur just yet you can click on the speaker icon on the menu bar. Hover your mouse on the AirPods Pro icon and select the mode you want to use.

Getting the right fit

Your AirPods Pro has two additional ear tips for better size choices. However, the medium size is pre-installed. First, try the medium sizes and see if it’s comfortable enough. If not, you can try the other two sizes.

To do this, you just need to pull the ear tips off and push the next one. Don’t be afraid that you’ll rip it off. Truth is, it doesn’t get ripped that easily. It’ll eventually come off.

Do the ear tip test

The ear tip test allows you to test the ear tips’ comfort level along with the sound quality. This is to ensure you have the right ear tip size installed on the earbuds. You can run the test in the Settings app or tap on Bluetooth and tap on the “i” next to the AirPods Pro. Next, select the Ear Tip Fit Test when it prompts.

Try this to get the right size for ears.
